Clothing and the Culture of Appearances in Early Modern Europe: Research Perspectives.

Due the importance that material culture studies have recently acquired in the study of pasts both near and remote, the International Seminar «Clothing and the Culture of Appearances: Research Perspectives» will provide a forum in which leading European experts, above all from Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom, will present their innovative research projects and exhibitions.

By commenting on their own research and presentations, the speakers will explore recent developments in the study of the material culture of the 16th-18th centuries, broadly understood, ranging from the analysis of clothing and luxury goods to daily-life habits and patterns of consumption.

In addition, Spanish experts will be invited to participate in this forum for exchange and discussion. This meeting of both national and foreign specialists is expected to contribute to exploring and developing possibilities for research projects regarding the cultural history of dress and appearance.
